Juicy Turkey Burgers

You won't miss the beef in these delicious turkey burgers. I treat them as a giant meatball so they retain so much flavor and moisture.

Ingredients
  

For the Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground turkey meat I prefer dark meat not breast meat for this recipe
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 C panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 C parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Burger Toppings

  • sliced red onion
  • dill pickle chips
  • ketchup
  • mayo
  • mustard
  • lettuce
  • heirloom tomato thickly sliced
  • avocado sliced thinly

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large non stick or cast iron skillet over medium heat on the stove. Add 1 tbsp olive oil. Once hot and shimmering, add in the diced yellow onion and cook until it is translucent and soft. About five minutes.
  • Add in the garlic and cook until fragrant about thirty seconds. Pull off the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • In a medium bowl combine the raw turkey, parsley, egg, breadcrumbs, and Parmesan. Add in 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Toss in the onion/garlic mixture and combine with your hands.
  • Shape the mixture into patties and put them on a plate.
  • Heat the skillet over medium heat again with the additional tbsp olive oil. Once hot and shimmering place the patties in the skillet. Cook until browned on both sides. About 6 minutes per side.
  • Pull off the heat and serve on buns with your favorite toppings.
