Recently I found out my little brother is going to be a Dad. When my sister in law and brother were visiting I was so excited I wanted to throw a little baby shower for her. Nothing extravagant, or outlandish just something simple and easy for all involved. I wrote down what I did to share these Simple Baby Shower Tips with you.
I think we often get so mixed up in the details that we forget the big picture is simply to honor the person we want to be treasuring. It doesn’t require a million errands to fifty stores, too many decorations that end up in the trash or elaborate invitations. So many times we punt the responsibilities of throwing a shower to someone else. With these simple tips you can throw a small baby shower by yourself with minimal prep.

First I started with an invitation. I was only going to have 6-8 people involved so I knew I didn’t need anything too elaborate. I ended up using Paperless Post and I will do it again for any shower involving a large or small number of people. It’s really great for the environment, hands down. But the ease of use was above and beyond. They had so many options to choose from and I chose a cute animal themed one. I could chose my envelope color, envelope liner, and postmark! I chose a cute Virginia one along with a baby carriage stamp. Here’s what I loved most about these invitations I could link up to their baby registry right on the invitation. All anyone had to do was click the Baby Registry Button. Love it!! Check out www.PaperlessPost.com
Up next for Simple Baby Shower Tips is to kept the decorations simple. I hung some paper streamers from my outdoor umbrella. And placed a cute pom pom ribbon near the gifts.
I think food is often times the most stressful part of throwing a shower. It does not have to be at all. Just keep it to make ahead things or easy to assemble things. No one wants to arrive to you working in the kitchen.
A Simple Baby Shower Tip is to make my recipe for Delicious Dill Chicken Salad and put it on croissants. You can get the recipe from the link. It can be made days in advance and easily can be put on croissant rolls or other slices of bread. It’s absolutely delicious too.

Next I kept it easy with an adult veggie tray. I like to mix mine up by blanching fresh veggies like asparagus and green beans in boiling water. Simply bringing salted water to a boil and drop your veggies in the water. Let them boil for about two minutes just until they turn bright green. Then drain them and immediately spray cold water on them to stop the cooking. You can do an ice bath or just put ice in the colander with the veggies. That’s my lazy short cut. Serve them cold with little pieces of cauliflower and an assortment of baby tomatoes. And of course ranch dressing!

For a little dessert I made Oreo Truffles from AllRecipes.com They are so incredibly easy to make! I sprinkled half of them with pink colored sugar and the other half with blue colored sugar since Ann & Drew aren’t finding out what they are having. I also packaged them in little individual bags and made cute tags to be more personal. These could also be made days ahead of time and kept in the fridge until the moment before guests arrived.

Especially at a lunch time shower a little bubbly goes a long way and pretty much goes with anything. I served some nice champagne with some fresh lemonade. Everyone was happy with their drink options.

And that’s it! We gave Ann some gifts and loved seeing what she got. It was a really special and EASY way to celebrate someone you love.

If your baby shower is for a small amount of people use real china, silverware, and nice drink glasses. It goes a long way, looks inviting and makes everyone feel special as opposed to paper and plastic products. Not to mention its so much better for the environment. I also love using cloth napkins. We always do at our house and I have found specific ones that fold really well and don’t require ironing from the dryer.
