Red White & Blue Ginger Ale Floats
You can thank my father in law for this dessert. Many summers ago he and my husband got excited talking about making Ginger Ale Floats. I had no clue what they were talking about. David ran out to the store to purchase the ingredients and everyone insisted I try it.
I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure what to think never having Ginger Ale in a float before, but my gosh was it delicious. David makes his Ginger Ale Floats with vanilla frozen yogurt and fresh blueberries and strawberries. The berries get good and cold, the frozen yogurt fizzes and bubbles and the Ginger Ale gets cloudy with the melted ice cream. The flavors go SO well together. It’s truly one of the most refreshing desserts I’ve ever had.
Not only is it delicious, but the colors are so vibrant and patriotic. How can you not enjoy this on a hot summer holiday like Memorial Day or Fourth of July here in the States?
The ingredients make it easy to make these for a crowd. I layer berries in the bottom of the cup, put in some frozen yogurt, layer more berries and then top it all with a good pour of Ginger Ale. This is sure to be a new holiday favorite.

Tools to help get the job done:
I was really excited to find these Preserve Compostable Straws made out of plants. They hold up pretty well in the liquid and you can compost them in your backyard. Not only that but they are SO CUTE! You can use this Amazon Affiliate link to buy them: https://amzn.to/2Hx4HOQ
Tovolo Ice Cream Scoop is one of my favorites I’ve ever used. It scoops really well and has little feet that sits the scoop part up off of the counter and doesn’t allow the scoop to roll around. I highly recommend it.
Glassware is key. I like to see the float and all the colors. I prefer a low profile simple tumbler like these on Amazon. https://amzn.to/30A9FBU
